The Dick’s contemporary interpretation of their Midcentury Modern home includes their addition of a cozy front courtyard and shady trellis that extends out along the hallmark beams of the home. Their studio addition in the back frames a large, shaded family living space, and the site wall extension from the front façade wraps the Master bedroom for an intimate private patio.
These inviting inside/outside spaces visually increase the scale of the interior space and physically connect the home to the neighborhood. The master bedroom and bathroom, hall bath, kitchen and dining room have also been renovated by homeowner and architect David Dick and his wife since they first started working on their home in 1991.
Most remarkable this season is the xeriscaping in the front yard, with coral aloe blooms and muted desert succulents. A smart yard like this is what makes spring in Arizona so appealing.
