pueblofy

pweb-low-fy

Near synonym for fauxdobe, but with the added sense of applying phony vigas to the structure. Also a synonym for santafeicate (san-tah-FAY-i-kate) and taosize (TAH-os-eyes).

"Papago Plaza had spare, clean lines before they pueblofied it."

Tuscanize

TUSS-can-eyes

To design, or remodel, a building to incorporate elements supposedly used in buildings in Tuscany.

"That Osco at Tatum and Cactus was looking a little too 80s, so I see Westcor has decided to tuscanize it."

Perhaps if we all use the terms enough we can get a few entries in Wordsppy! :D

I forgot if I posted this news or not, and I did it like 2 years ago, but our definition of MoPho is now in the Urban Dictionary.

Go and give it a thumbs-up!

What about...

Stuccofied - when a structure gets slathered with "stucco" because, the owner was too lazy or cheap or ignorant to do anything else to update and improve aesthetics, insulation or construction integrity of an original structure. Especially annoying and unnessary when applied over orignial block that does have integral color and textural appeal.
planned interiors = great aesthetics + an environment to thrive, renew and nuture. Some projects at http://www.facebook.com/album.php?id=13 ... &aid=90272. "Design on Purpose" content at http://interiorsforabetterlife.wordpress.com

This one is inspired by the expression "The Full Cleveland." From the Urban Dictionary:

Full Cleveland: Any male outfit that includes both a white patent leather (or plastic) belt, and matching white shoes.

I submit for your approval "The Full MoPho."

Which is, of course, sandblasted concrete block, metal fascia, xeriscape, hesperaloes or (better yet) agaves planted in a grid, maybe a beadle-block screen, and, of course of course, gabions.

Usage: "Found a great house in Paradise Gardens and gave it the Full MoPho."

Cynically, I agree but I also think these materials reflect our time and values well so I accept them as inevitable forms. It's complicated. But definitely there are a few out there that deserve this term :)

Tuscanizing: the bane of warm climate architecture. Nice thought usually, but just looks so fake in most cases.
