Dangerous Area/Property...

Just to let everyone know, I went to check out a neighborhood last night and to view a property...

The place is currently occupied but i thought I'd look at the outside of the place to get a feel for it. When I turned up there was about 6 cars outside and lot of unsavoury people meeting out the front... I paused to look at the building and I noticed one of these people was holding a handgun...

Just thought I'd let people know - being form the UK this is quite a big deal - but hey - maybe I'm just not used to gang culture!

You may want to wait until the tennants have moved on before viewing...

Wow, love the exposed block and fireplace. That front courtyard could make a very interesting space!

Too bad about the gun, but good to know. I wonder what crime is like all around there.

it was one of the cooler looking houses on the estate, but also lose to a very busy road. A lot of the othe rhouses were in very bad states of repair... cracking stucoo etc... but 'each to their own' ?! and some didn't look like the belonged on the estate at all!

I'm going to head up to Sunnyslope next and have a sniff around there... I drove past a few nice places last night...

I have lived around the corner from this house on Becker lane for almost 6 years and it is a lot safer here than Sunnyslope. The houses closer to Peoria are going through a transition right now. What used to be rental houses the owners are taking their appreciation and selling. Overall it is a good solid middle class neighborhood full of teachers, cops, retail managers and small business owners. Let me know if you want any more info on the 'hood.

must have just been an isolated instance... this certainly wasn't home to such people... car on blocks, and lots of guys wearing white vest, black jeans, flip flops and tattoos all up their arms... unless I'm confused - i have looked at so many houses this week... I've been over sunnyslope before - it didn't seem as racially segragated as this area? I'm having a nose around sunnyslope later tonight, if i see any gems out of my own reach I'll be sure to post them...
