The addition on our Haver Home! [APRIL FOOLS!]

Postby PixelPixie on Sat Mar 31, 2007 11:57 pm

OMG I can't believe it is all done! OUR ADDITION that we have been talking about for years! We got so impatient, we just decided to stop futzing around and GO FOR IT to see what happened.

Our contractor was sooooo amazing, it was like the place was virtually erected overnight, just like it was in the old days. Do we have connections or what?!?!? The minute the plans were approved by the city, the crew arrived and started framing up the stick. I was astonished, given all that I'd heard about contractors in this town. By sundown, they were putting on the final coat of stucco.

Here she is:

I also have to give mad love to our architect, Candace Haver, who was able to help us strike that perfect balance between progress + preservation. Candy, you've done your Papa Haver proud!

I can't wait to have you all over for barbecue. You will NOT believe the BBQ pit area that Candace designed for us out back. We can seat fourty now, easy. Also, our new balcony is I-N-C-R-E-D-I-B-L-E.

I'm so relieved that is all over, and even though I vowed I'd never live in a two-story ever again, I have to say that I'm quite comfortable running up and down the stairs all day long. Its not so bad as I remembered. The view into my neighbor's yard is fascinating! You'd not believe the junk they have squirreled away back there. I think I even saw a garden I shouldn't have. Wow!

We tripled our space in a day with this addition. What am I going to do with all my stuff (or lack of it)?!? We just spent the last year giving it all away -- the place is going to be a barenaked ghost town now. Echo...echo...echo....! Helllllloooo Mastercard!

Anyway, enough about me and my house. What have YOU been up to, you lazy ass?

I was just reading a press release today that McDonalds is opening up a new Real-estate division dedicated to large tuscan style track homes.

Here's their new logo:

While I am sure you will enjoy the swank new addition to your home, I am a bit concerned that Michael Johnson might have wanted you to complete the original vision that Haver had for that site:

At the time that Haver designed MMT it would have had the world's largest underground carport. Haver calculated that in windy conditions the top of MMT could sway as much as 39 feet.

It is a shame that only one unit of MMT was completed. The developer was too bogged down financially with another ambitious project- the Mo Money Pawn Shop.

I love the streetside blast protection. They just don't make homes today like they used to. Optima Camelview wishes it was this classy.

Chris, you couldn't live there because your aquariums would spill if it got windy.

The CCRs say "NO AQUARIUMS"

For those of you who did not blink at the stark faux-realism of our work with "Candy" Haver...

April Fool!

I sent this thread to my neighbor down the street and had him believing for 24 hours ;-) It is probably believable because it feels so TRUE in this neighborhood. Stop the stucco madness!

Great CCRs, X!
